Family Grill Out

We headed home to visit family one last time before we head off to Indiana on Tuesday. The night was ended with a grill out at Jim & Tammy's house with several members of both families present. We ate burgers, sweet corn, sides and desserts. We played bocce ball, bean bags and another game (maybe called Balls or Ladders). A great time was had by all!

Crazy Sleeper!

I walked around the corner into the living room and found Herky sleeping in the strangest position! Can't imagine it could really be that comfortable...He is definitely growing fast! He weighs 15 pounds now and can successfully roll over for a treat in addition to sit and lay down.

Hail Storm

About 7:15 pm it began raining and we thought we saw some small hail as well. Soon the size of the hail increased and the speed of the rain and hail increased as well. Some of the hail measured over 2 inches in size, and obviously led to damage on nearly all cars (including ours) parked outside.

Nick's Amputee Tournament

For the 5th year in a row, Nick and I went to Ankeny for his two day Iowa Amputee Golf Association tournament at Otter Creek golf course. It was a fun weekend with many familiar faces and a few new people to meet as well. Nick shot 79 on Saturday and improved one stroke for a 78 on Sunday. Overall he played very well despite a few holes he was unhappy about. He placed 2nd in the Leg Flight and 5th overall in the tournament. I also had the honor of accepting a scholarship from the IAGA at the banquet on Saturday night. Overall we had a great weekend!

Kacie's New Haircut!

Well, since the wedding is over and it is hot outside, I decided it was time to cut my hair short again! Nick wasn't really excited because he liked my long hair, but it is much easier to style and take care of now! And it is much cooler too!

Herky Makes New Friends

Herky had an exciting weekend! Herky and I went to my mom and dad's house on Friday to clean out my old bedroom. While in the area Herky went in to my grandma and grandpa Perkins' house and met their pomeranian Petey and pomeranian/terrier mix Grace. Grace was shy but her and Herky got along okay. Petey was a bit more unsure and a bit protective of Grace, but the meeting went fairly well. Herky also visited Grandma Callaway on Friday, but he was tired from meeting Petey and Grace so he slept almost the whole time we were at her house. Saturday morning Herky was a bit naughty and played in some mud which led to a bath. Then Herky was very proud to catch a bird that couldn't fly while he was playing in the yard and he refused to let it go - this led to another mess... After all was cleaned up we headed to Union to meet Nick at his parent's house. We spent the night there and Herky became very good buddies with their three labs: Dakota, Keiko, and Madison. Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of Herky playing with these dogs, but he will be staying there next weekend so maybe we will get some then! I also weighed Herky today and he has gotten much bigger! He is up to 10 pounds now!

Herky's 4th of July

For the 4th of July Kacie's parents Jim and Tammy and Kacie's sister Lezlie came up to Cedar Falls to grill and go to the fireworks with us. We found a stuffed bunny rabbit that had a camouflage shirt on that fit Herky perfectly! He didn't even seem to mind wearing it! He definitely didn't mind the fireworks either, in fact he slept right through most of them.

All that playing can make a puppy really tired. In fact, Herky will sleep almost anywhere! At night he is sleeping in his kennel to make housetraining easier, but during the day he will sleep anywhere he ends up!

Herky is almost 7 weeks old, and today we weighed him for the first time. He is 8 pounds. Herky likes to play with all his toys and some things that aren't meant to be toys...All that playing can make a puppy dirty too, so we gave him his first bath on Sunday (7/1).
