Thanksgiving in Indiana

Nick decided to save up his vacation time for Christmas (and save us some money too) by staying in Indiana for Thanksgiving. Josh and Lezlie also decided to stay in Indiana rather than go back to South Dakota. So, we decided we would make Thanksgiving dinner for ourselves! Between Lezlie and I (with a bit of help from Nick and Josh), we cooked turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, scalloped potatoes and ham, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, bacon cheesy bread, dinner rolls, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie, and margarita pie. It was a great dinner with lots of leftovers. Since Josh and Lezlie have two dogs, Molly and Zelly, and we were watching our friends' (Candice & Thai) dog Kip, we had a houseful of dogs. Four people and five dogs! The dogs were all pretty well behaved and had a great time playing together. After we ate dinner, dessert, cleaned up and watched the Cowboys football game, we decided to go to a movie. We saw the extremely long movie, Australia. It was a good ending to a great Thanksgiving with friends.

Lezlie's Visit to Indiana

Since Nick and I weren't going to Iowa for Thanksgiving, my sister Lezlie decided to come visit us. She found a relatively cheap flight from Moline to Indianapolis on the Friday before Thanksgiving. We drove to the new airport in Indianapolis and picked her up late Friday evening. While she was here, we had a lot of fun and caught up on events in our lives since we'd seen each other last. On Saturday, Lezlie came with us to a dog training session. Then we went shopping at Maurices in the afternoon. Saturday night, we met some of my optometry friends at Nick's English Hut, a popular bar that serves great food. We went back to Josh & Lezlie Jones' house to play Guitar Hero after Nick's. On Sunday and Monday we did a bit of Christmas shopping, and worked on a puzzle that we had bought. Monday night we went to a local BBQ restaurant called Smokin' Jack's Rib Shack. It was a pretty good meal. Tuesday morning, I drove Lezlie back to the airport to fly home for Thanksgiving. Lezlie also brought her video camera with her, and we shot a few videos (mainly of the dogs) while she was here. I will post those later after I get a chance to edit them. For now, here's a few pictures from the weekend.
