While it isn't that unusual for Iowa, a foot of snow in Indiana is a big deal! The snow started on Monday night, and by Tuesday morning we had about four inches of snow. On Tuesday it continued to snow, and in the afternoon it turned to ice for a brief period. We woke up Wednesday morning to another five inches of snow, bringing the total to 10-12 inches! Of course all the local school districts were closed for the day, but surprisingly even Indiana University was closed! They just don't have enough snow plows or enough employees to get rid of the snow like we do in Iowa. I was happy to stay home and let the dogs play in the snow. Unfortunately Nick still had to go to work, but he made it through the snow safely. I thought it was funny that there were several robins in the tree near the dog park. I bet they were confused to see so much snow and 20 degree temperatures!

New Year's 2009
Nick and I were still in Iowa for New Year's Eve, so we decided to head to Conrad to our friends Casey & Steph's house. We met up with some of our other high school friends Mark and Thad. Casey's sister Stacy and her husband Scott came over, and Lezlie went with us for awhile before she headed to Marshalltown to hang out with some of her friends. And of course Casey and Steph's daughter Mya stayed up for awhile, but she fell asleep long before midnight. We played games and watched the ball drop before we called it a night.
