Souvenirs from Mexico - Playing with the camera again!

I decided to take some pictures of the souvenirs I got in Mexico, and had fun playing with different settings on the camera.

Valentine's Day

When I came home from Mexico on Valentine's Day, there were beautiful tulips waiting for me from Nick!

More Mexico Photos

Here are a random assortment of more Mexico pictures...I had planned to organize them, but it was taking too long...

Mexico Trip

This year I went on the same optometry trip to Mexico as last year. The trip is organized through the Indiana University chapter of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). We stayed in a hotel in Guanajuato, Mexico and traveled to Silao, Mexico every day on a bus to see patients at the eye clinic. We saw approximately 500 patients per day for 5 days, then we had two free days to explore the city. The first pictures show some of the students wearing the donated glasses we dispensed, riding the bus to the clinic, the second year students on the trip, the tent of waiting patients, and the boxes of glasses waiting to be dispensed.

Nick tries out the camera

While I was in Mexico, Nick decided to try out the new camera at Lezlie Jones' birthday party. Here's a few of the pictures he took.

New Camera!

I have a new toy! A Nikon D40 digital SLR camera with the standard 18-55 mm lens and a 55-200 mm lens! I am very excited to learn more about using this camera, but even the auto features take great photos. Of course, my first pictures were of the dogs...when you upload photos here, Blogger shrinks them, but you should be able to see them as larger files at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaciemonroe/ if you are interested.

I am leaving this Saturday to go to Mexico with VOSH again, where we will perform 500 eye exams a day for six days. I will be back on February 14th.
